Kanning Dental- Lawson
I was raised in Braymer, Missouri and graduated from Maple Woods College. I continued my education at Concorde Career College and earned my Expanded Function Certificate in their Dental Program. Beginning my career at Kanning Dental in 2006, I first served as an assistant and now as the Office Manager.
Kanning Dental is not only my career but it is also my family. I enjoy being able to have relationships with the patients and meeting their needs. My goal is to make every patient comfortable during their appointment and knowledgeable about their oral health.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my four children doing anything outdoors. We love to hunt, shoot bows, grill out with friends and family, and watch movies.
As one of the first employees, I have been part of this office for a long time. Working at Kanning Dental has somewhat defined part of who I am. I have served the practice in many capacities but currently, serve as the Insurance Coordinator. I really care about people and our patients and meeting their wants and needs. The individuals I get the privilege of working with at Kanning Dental feel like family!
Over the years, I have belonged to many organizations in our Lawson community. However, my constant is the Lawson Methodist Church, where over the years I have done almost every job in the church, but preach.
When I am not at 201 E 6th Street, you’ll find me enjoying all of my favorite things- reading, quilting, and spending time with family, especially my grandchildren who are just wonderful.
After graduating high school in my hometown of Clinton, MO, I was eager to get into the medical field. I quickly received my Medical Technician Certification as well as my CNA license. In 2017, I graduated from DeVry University for Medical coding and Billing. In 2019, I was ready for a change. I wanted to be in an office setting where I was able to interact more with patients, thus I began my dental journey as an Insurance Coordinator.
First, I was a Kanning Dental patient for several years and witnessed firsthand the staff and their interactions with my children. Their love and knowledge for their work and patients made the experience more than just a normal dental visit for me and my family. So you can imagine my excitement when I joined the Kanning Dental team in 2021, as the Scheduling Coordinator. Now they are my work family!
My husband, Nick, always dreamed of raising our children in his hometown. So in 2019, we moved to Lawson to raise our two boys, Beau and Talan, on our small property. We enjoy being outside as a family- riding our dirt bikes, building something, family float trips, and hunting, we love it all!
I was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, where I attended college at the University of Missouri – Kansas City. I obtained my Bachelors of Science in Dental Hygiene in Spring 2009. With my Missouri dental hygiene licensure and certification in local anesthetic and nitrous oxide administration, I have clinically practiced dental hygiene and volunteered with the state doing dental screenings in a variety of elementary schools.
I am very happy to be part of the Kanning Dental team. My daily goal is to help fulfill our mission by educating and treating our patients in a comfortable, clean, and cozy environment. My passion is patient education; therefore, I love to comprehensively answer patient questions and give them answers to help lead them to optimal oral health.
In our downtime, my husband and I love watching our children grow, catching a baseball game, or enjoying live music.
After graduating in October 2013 from Concorde Dental Hygiene school, my passion to help patients feel comfortable with pain-free dentistry and provide quality care and education quickly grew. I enjoy being able to visit with each patient and help my team succeed in making everyone feel at home. Being part of Kanning Dental has blessed me with many opportunities to grow and learn, making me a better, more well-rounded hygienist.
When I find free time, I like to be in the outdoors with my husband and two dogs- a Husky and a Catahoula. Whether it be hiking, fishing, exploring, or just taking a drive as long as we are outside I’m a happy lady.
I began my career at Kanning Dental in 2016 as the Sterilization Tech but quickly progressed to a Dental Assistant through the hands-on training and support of our amazing team. Through additional training, I specialize in our CEREC milling of crowns, bridges, and implants. This office is very passionate about our patients, the care that they receive, and the education to get each employee performing at our fullest potential… all the while having a blast doing it.
Kanning Dental prides itself on making each patient feel special by greeting them with a smile and calling them by their first name. That is one of my favorite things about our practice. I love the small-town feel (with big-city technology) and having everyone feel like family.
Outside of the office, my husband, son, and I love doing anything outdoors with our two crazy dogs. I am happiest when I am with my family!
I have been in the dental field for over 15 years and have a passion for helping my patients have healthier and more confident smiles. I graduated from Concord Career College in 2006 in their dental assisting program. My favorite part about being an assistant is getting to know my patients and helping to ensure they have the best oral health.
On the weekends and during my free time, my husband Rob and I, and our two children, Chase and Emma, enjoy doing different activities together, such as arts and crafts, taking walks, and watching movies.
Life always comes full circle. After being raised in a small town in Kansas, I am now back in a small town doing what I love- practicing dental hygiene. In 2016, I graduated from Johnson Country Community College as a registered Dental Hygienist and started at Kanning Dental in 2021. Meeting new people and building relationships with my patients is one of the many things I enjoy about my job. It makes me happy to ease the anxieties people have about going to the dentist.
Outside of the office you will find me enjoying a busy life with my blended family -swimming, trail riding and being in the outdoors.
Kanning Dental- Richmond
The dental world and I have a long relationship. I started my dental career in 2003 as an expanded functions dental assistant and later moved into the administrative side. Having worked in a specialist practice in Parkville for over 10 years, I am excited to be closer to home, serving in my community, and serving Kanning Dental as our Office Manager.
You will find me smiling at the front desk, ensuring patients feel welcome and cared for in our office. I love getting to know our patients and building a community at Kanning Dental. I want every patient to feel like they are the priority. It is very exciting for the Richmond area to have the experience and the technology we offer, but still, have small-town hospitality.
When I’m not answering questions or greeting patients, you may find me shopping, my favorite hobby, or which I consider my best talent. Or you’ll find me baking and sharing my creations with friends and family. But my favorite thing to do is share a good laugh with friends. My husband and I have four children, two of whom are grown and out of the house, and the other two keep us busy!
I began my journey in the dental field as a Treatment Coordinator and Insurance Specialist and after a rewarding eight years, I chose to leave the workforce and focus full time on our small cattle ranch. I made the decision to re-enter the workforce with hopes of continuing my passion for building relationships with patients. As a patient of Kanning Dental for years, I was eager to join this dedicated work family. The level of care Kanning Dental has always shown me as a patient is evident through each individual whom I have the privilege to work alongside.
I am blessed with the opportunity to be the first point of contact with our patients as the Hygiene Coordinator. Through the same kindness and equality that the Kanning Dental family has shown me, I am able to give back in the same regard to our patients. I enjoy the opportunity of setting the standard for your entire visit as our goal is always to exceed expectations while serving our community.
Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my three wonderful grandchildren; they are the greatest joy in my life. I am also on the leadership team for our local Celebrate Recovery Ministry as well as serving at my church in any way I can.
My Love for Dentistry started while I was in high school. At that time, I worked part-time as a dental assistant. After High School, I attended classes at NCMC and obtained my license in dental hygiene and certification in local anesthetic. I am excited to be part of the Kanning Dental team because I will continue to be able to treat patients with the highest level of care.
Growing up in a rural community, I saw firsthand the effects of poor oral hygiene. This has continuously fueled my passion for educating my patients. I want to eliminate the fear and stigmas that surround going to “the dentist” by caring for my patients and providing oral health education to help them understand how it connects with their overall health.
Outside of the office, you’ll find me relaxing with my husband, Steven, and our daughters Ashlyn and Brogan. You’ll also find me reading every day and when I can, I enjoy finding treasures at thrift stores.
After growing up in a small community on the coast of Norway, in 1998 I made Richmond, MO my home. The fall of 2003 was a pivotal year for me as I was blessed to be hired by Dr. Fawks while simultaneously starting my dental assisting program at Concorde Career College. In June 2004, I graduated as a certified dental assistant.
I take great pride in being able to serve my community by helping provide quality dental care to our patients. I am excited to be a part of the Kanning Dental team to continue to build on the foundation Dr. Fawks established. The technological advances and training Dr. Kanning and his team have brought to our office are very exciting. I enjoy getting to know my patients and helping them gain a better understanding of the importance of their oral health.
When I’m not at 205 Spartan Dr, I enjoy spending time with my family: my husband, Troy, three grown boys; Tim, Erik, and Daniel, and our dog, Scout. We are active members of the Richmond United Methodist Church and volunteer with Scouting. We enjoy spending summer weekends at the Lake of the Ozarks with friends. I enjoy working out locally most mornings, reading and learning about personal development and natural wellness. Whenever I’m able to, a return home to Norway is always a favorite.
I was born and raised in Polo, Missouri. I graduated from Metropolitan Community College in May 2018, with my expanded functions dental assisting certificate in the health science institute.
I am very happy and proud to be part of the Kanning Dental team as I get to expand the knowledge and compassion I have for the dental field. I truly enjoy working with my patients and helping them reach their personal oral health goals while growing their dental knowledge at the same time.
In my spare time, when I can find it, I enjoy spending my time outdoors with my dog, Ozzy, whether it be fishing, riding, hunting, playing softball, you name it. My everyday inspiration is my faith, my family, and knowing what I am doing today is getting me closer to where I want to be tomorrow.
Sleep Well Missouri Team
As the Dental Sleep Coordinator, I work closely with Dr. Nelson to walk patients through the full process of being diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea and ensure patients receive the best care and treatment options possible. I believe in treating every patient like I would treat myself or my family.
I want to educate patients about the diagnosis and the importance of treatment, which is so often overlooked. Having watched my husband go thru the process with Dr. Nelson, I have seen first-hand how it has positively changed his overall health. His experience has made me very passionate about wanting to help other patients achieve this optimal outcome and ensure they get healthy sleep!
My husband, TJ, and I moved to Lawson 10 years ago. TJ grew up in Lawson and always knew we wanted to come back home to raise our kids. We have three kiddos: Tucker, Jilliyn, and Maverick, who keep us crazy busy chasing them to all of their events. When we aren’t at a ballfield, we enjoy being with family, vacationing, or just a “friendly” competitive game in the backyard.
