Kanning Dental- Lawson
I was raised in Braymer, Missouri and graduated from Maple Woods College. I continued my education at Concorde Career College and earned my Expanded Function Certificate in their Dental Program. Beginning my career at Kanning Dental in 2006, I first served as an assistant and now as the Office Manager.
Kanning Dental is not only my career but it is also my family. I enjoy being able to have relationships with the patients and meeting their needs. My goal is to make every patient comfortable during their appointment and knowledgeable about their oral health.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my four children doing anything outdoors. We love to hunt, shoot bows, grill out with friends and family, and watch movies.
As one of the first employees, I have been part of this office for a long time. Working at Kanning Dental has somewhat defined part of who I am. I have served the practice in many capacities but currently, serve as the Insurance Coordinator. I really care about people and our patients and meeting their wants and needs. The individuals I get the privilege of working with at Kanning Dental feel like family!
Over the years, I have belonged to many organizations in our Lawson community. However, my constant is the Lawson Methodist Church, where over the years I have done almost every job in the church, but preach.
When I am not at 201 E 6th Street, you’ll find me enjoying all of my favorite things- reading, quilting, and spending time with family, especially my grandchildren who are just wonderful.
I was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, where I attended college at the University of Missouri – Kansas City. I obtained my Bachelors of Science in Dental Hygiene in the Spring 2009. With my Missouri dental hygiene licensure and certification in local anesthetic and nitrous oxide administration, I have clinically practiced dental hygiene and volunteered with the state doing dental screenings in a variety of elementary schools.
I am very happy to be part of the Kanning Dental team. My daily goal is to help fulfill our mission by educating and treating our patients in a comfortable, clean, and cozy environment. My passion is patient education; therefore, I love to comprehensively answer patient questions and give them answers to help lead them to optimal oral health.
In our down time, my husband and I love watching our children grow, catching a baseball game, or enjoying live music.
After graduating in October 2013 from Concorde Dental Hygiene school, my passion to help patients feel comfortable with pain free dentistry and provide quality care and education quickly grew. I enjoy being able to visit with each patient and help my team succeed in making everyone feel at home. Being part of Kanning Dental has blessed me with many opportunities to grow and learn, making me a better, more well-rounded hygienist.
When I find free time, I like to be in the outdoors with my husband and two dogs- a Husky and a Catahoula. Whether it be hiking, fishing, exploring, or just taking a drive as long as we are outside I’m a happy lady.
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved going to the dentist. My passion for dentistry became a reality when I graduated as a certified dental assistant with expanded functions and obtained my Associates of Applied Science degree at Penn Valley. While I love the hustle and bustle of dental assisting, I knew my true passion was in the education of oral hygiene. In May 2019, I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene at UMKC School of Dentistry. While in school, I was very active in dental prevention programs throughout Kansas City.
My goal as a dental hygienist is to provide my patients the utmost care and knowledge they need to leave Kanning Dental with a smile on their face, and the same confidence I have with my smile. I take pride in knowing that I could change someone’s smile whether it be chairside with one of the doctors or by simply boosting their confidence with the appropriate cleaning their mouth needs.
When I’m not busy being the tooth fairy or her assistant, I like to spend time with my family, especially my niece and nephew. Alongside them, I have three fur babies (Shih Tzus), Axl, Snookie, and J Boww. My caring heart and passion come from the good things I’ve been blessed within my lifetime. After all, I feel it was faith that brought me here to Kanning Dental.
I began my career at Kanning Dental in 2016 as the Sterilization Tech but quickly progressed to a Dental Assistant through the hands-on training and support of our amazing team. Through additional training, I specialize in our CEREC milling of crowns, bridges, and implants. This office is very passionate about our patients, the care that they receive, and the education to get each employee performing at our fullest potential… all the while having a blast doing it.
Kanning Dental prides itself on making each patient feel special by greeting them with a smile and calling them by their first name. That is one of my favorite things about our practice. I love the small-town feel (with big city technology) and having everyone feel like family.
Outside of the office, my husband, son, and I love doing anything outdoors with our two crazy dogs. I am happiest when I am with my family!
I was born and raised in Polo, Missouri. I graduated from Metropolitan Community College in May 2018, with my expanded functions dental assisting certificate in the health science institute.
I am very happy and proud to be part of the Kanning Dental team as I get to expand my knowledge and compassion I have for the dental field. I truly enjoy working with my patients and helping them reach their personal oral health goals, while growing their dental knowledge at the same time.
In my spare time, when I can find it, I enjoy spending my time outdoors with my dog, Ozzy, whether it be fishing, riding, hunting, playing softball, you name it. My everyday inspiration is my faith, my family, and knowing what I am doing today is getting me closer to where I want to be tomorrow.
I have a heart for small towns having grown up in Meadville and now living in Chillicothe and working in Lawson. I did, however, venture out to Maryville for a bit and I graduate from Northwest Missouri State majoring in communication and public relations. Not feeling fulfilled in my current work at the time, I transitioned into the dental world to become a Dental Assistant. It is very rewarding to me to build relationships with our patients and help them better their oral health.
Kanning Dental is a second family to me and it makes me happy to work in a place where we take pride in treating our patients like family too.
Kanning Dental- Richmond
The dental world and I have a long relationship. I started my dental career in 2003 as an expanded functions dental assistant and later moved into the administrative side. Having worked in a specialist practice in Parkville for over 10 years, I am excited to be closer to home, serving in my community.
As the Schedule and Treatment Coordinator, you will find me smiling at the front desk. I love getting to know our patients and making them feel welcome at Kanning Dental. I want every patient to feel like they are the priority. It is very exciting for our community to have the experience and the technology we offer, but still have small-town hospitality.
When I’m not answering questions or greeting patients, you may find me shopping, my favorite hobby of which I consider my best talent. Or you’ll find me baking and sharing my creations with friends and family. But my most favorite thing to do is share a good laugh with friends. My husband and I have 4 children, two of whom are grown and out of the house, and the other two keep us busy!
My Love for Dentistry started while I was in high school. At that time, I worked part time as a dental assistant. After High School I attended classes at NCMC and obtained my license in dental hygiene and certification in local anesthetic. I am excited to be part of the Kanning Dental team because I will continue to be able to treat patients with the highest level of care.
Growing up in a rural community, I saw firsthand the effects of poor oral hygiene. This has continuously fueled my passion for educating my patients. I want to eliminate the fear and stigmas that surround going to “the dentist” by caring for my patients and providing oral health education to help them understand how it connects with their overall health.
Outside of the office, you’ll find me relaxing with my husband, Steven, and our daughters Ashlyn and Brogan. You’ll also find me reading every day and when I can, I enjoy finding treasures at thrift stores.
While I became a Dental Assistant in 2008, you can say I have been around dentistry my entire life as I am the oldest daughter of Dr. Steven and Mrs. Dolores Fawks. I was born and raised in Richmond, Mo and still reside there today. I am very excited and fortunate to start a new adventure with another dental family legacy, Kanning Dental.
My love for dentistry comes from not only my father who started his own practice in 1979 but also my grandfather Dr. Gerald Mason who became a dentist in the Navy during WWII and came back to his hometown of Salisbury, Mo to start his own practice and family.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Chris, and our children, Mason and Madeline “Maddie”. We love the outdoors: camping, boating, and anything motorsports. We are HUGE MONSTER TRUCK FANS!!
After growing up in a small community on the coast of Norway, in 1998 I made Richmond, MO my home. The fall of 2003 was a pivotal year for me as I was blessed to be hired by Dr. Fawks while simultaneously starting my dental assisting program at Concorde Career College. In June 2004, I graduated as a certified dental assistant.
I take great pride in being able to serve my community by helping provide quality dental care to our patients. I am excited to be a part of the Kanning Dental team to continue to build on the foundation Dr. Fawks established. The technological advances and training Dr. Kanning and his team have brought to our office is very exciting. I enjoy getting to know my patients and helping them gain a better understanding of the importance of their oral health.
When I’m not at 205 Spartan Dr, I enjoy spending time with my family: my husband, Troy, three grown boys; Tim, Erik and Daniel, and our dog, Scout. We are active members of the Richmond United Methodist Church and volunteer with Scouting. We enjoy spending summer weekends at the Lake of the Ozarks with friends. I enjoy working out locally most mornings, reading and learning about personal development and natural wellness. Whenever I’m able to, a return home to Norway is always a favorite.
Sleep Well Missouri Team
Having been raised in Arizona, I ended up in Missouri after following my fiancé home to be closer to his family. I am a mom of three beautiful babies and as an active, outside family, we love to take our children anywhere they can explore and make a memory. My background in Marketing and Customer Relations has prepared me well for my new role in the dental field.
As the Dental Sleep Coordinator, my role is to walk patients through the full process of being diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea and ensuring the proper treatment. I’m truly passionate about what I do because helping people better their health has always been a dream of mine. Obstructive Sleep Apnea is a very treatable disorder but so often goes unnoticed. I am excited to work with Dr. Nelson and the Kanning Dental team to make sure that our patients are properly screened and treated.
