OUR RICHMOND DENTAL OFFICE

The dental world and I have a long relationship. I started my dental career in 2003 as an expanded functions dental assistant and later moved into the administrative side. Having worked in a specialist practice in Parkville for over 10 years, I am excited to be closer to home, serving in my community and serving Kanning Dental as our Office Manager. 

You will find me smiling at the front desk and working to ensure our patients feel welcome and cared for in our office. I love getting to know our patients and building a community at Kanning Dental.  I want every patient to feel like they are the priority. It is very exciting for the Richmond area to have the experience and the technology we offer, but still have small-town hospitality.

When I’m not answering questions or greeting patients, you may find me shopping, my favorite hobby of which I consider my best talent. Or you’ll find me baking and sharing my creations with friends and family. But my most favorite thing to do is share a good laugh with friends. My husband and I have four children, two of which are grown and out of the house, and the other two keep us busy!

My Love for Dentistry started while I was in high school.  At that time, I worked part time as a dental assistant.  After High School I attended classes at NCMC and obtained my license in dental hygiene and certification in local anesthetic.  I am excited to be part of the Kanning Dental team because I will continue to be able to treat patients with the highest level of care.

Growing up in a rural community, I saw firsthand the effects of poor oral hygiene.  This has continuously fueled my passion for educating my patients.  I want to eliminate the fear and stigmas that surrounds going to “the dentist” by caring for my patients, and providing oral health education to help them understand how it connects with their overall health.

Outside of the office, you’ll find me relaxing with my husband, Steven, and our daughters Ashlyn and Brogan. You’ll also find me reading everyday and when I can, I enjoy finding treasures at thrift stores.

After growing up in a small community on the coast of Norway, in 1998 I made Richmond, MO my home. The fall of 2003 was a pivotal year for me as I was blessed to be hired by Dr. Fawks while simultaneously starting my dental assisting program at Concorde Career College. In June 2004, I graduated as a certified dental assistant.

I take great pride in being able to serve my community by helping provide quality dental care to our patients. I am excited to be a part of the Kanning Dental team to continue to build on the foundation Dr. Fawks established. The technological advances and training Dr. Kanning and his team have brought to our office is very exciting. I enjoy getting to know my patients and helping them gain a better understanding of the importance of their oral health.

When I’m not at 205 Spartan Dr, I enjoy spending time with my family: my husband, Troy, three grown boys; Tim, Erik and Daniel, and our dog, Scout. We are active members of the Richmond United Methodist Church and volunteer with Scouting. We enjoy spending summer weekends at the Lake of the Ozarks with friends. I enjoy working out locally most mornings, reading and learning about personal development and natural wellness. Whenever I’m able to, a return home to Norway is always a favorite.

As a kid, I was always intrigued by dentistry and knew I wanted to be an assistant. So during quarantine in 2020,  I took the leap and graduated from Penn Foster with my Basics in Assisting. In looking for an office to start my externship hours, I was blessed to hear that Kanning Dental was hiring. I was brought on as an Extern to get my hands-on training; then, was hired on as a full time Dental Assistant in 2021. 

My favorite parts about being a Kanning Dental assistant is always being pushed by my team to learn more, and the wonderful care we give each patient to make them feel comfortable while helping them through their dental anxieties. 

Outside of the office you will catch me enjoying time with my family, my dogs, and catching up on a current show or movie!
